A good day starts with a clear agreement.

The HSSD pilot connects participating San Diego dental offices and professionals. Read these terms with our privacy notice before joining. Pilot access is approved by HSSD; creating a profile does not approve you to work.

No membership charge during the pilot

Joining, saving availability, posting shifts, and booking through this pilot carry no HSSD membership charge or booking fee. No payment card is needed. HSSD takes no commission from agreed professional wages. Offices still pay wages, employer taxes, coverage, agreed travel bonuses, and any other required employee costs. Future paid membership requires a separate payment authorization; accepting these pilot terms does not enroll you in autopay.

The office arranges employee payroll

The pilot supports employee payroll only, not 1099 payments. The posting office identifies its legal employer and payroll provider, supplies current coverage evidence, and completes a readiness review before posting. It confirms each professional’s completed onboarding and payroll setup before making a final offer. The office handles employment records, work authorization, wages, withholding, employee tax forms, required insurance, supervision, and required reimbursements. Keep worker tax and identity documents with the employer or payroll provider; do not upload them here. HSSD records readiness and shift agreements but does not run payroll, issue W-2s, or pay wages.

Credentials must be current and reviewed

Professionals provide accurate role, license, CPR/BLS, and training information. HSSD checks submitted expiration dates and requires independent credential review before booking. Live automatic state-board verification is not connected. The office and professional must confirm current licensure, restrictions, scope of practice, required training, and supervision for the actual work. Profile changes or new evidence require review again. A review is not a government certification or a guarantee of suitability.

Pay is agreed before booking

Hourly offers respect the posted rate and the professional’s saved minimum for the required duties. HSSD’s posting policy adds $10/hr for assisted hygiene, $3/hr for dedicated hygiene assisting, $5/hr for RDH laser work or $10/hr for dentist laser work, and $5/hr for California RDAEF duties. Same-day coverage adds $5/hr. These are platform pay policies, not claims about legal or market-wide premiums. Same-day travel bonuses use one-way driving miles agreed by both parties and apply once per shift. A travel bonus does not replace any required reimbursement.

A request becomes a booking after both sides confirm

Professionals mark their day available, request a shift, and review the office’s final hourly and travel offer. The office confirms payroll onboarding before making that offer. The professional’s final confirmation books the shift. HSSD blocks overlapping booked shifts for the same account. A request, alert, or calendar mark alone is not a booking. An unfilled shift is not guaranteed to receive coverage.

When plans change

Use the workspace to cancel or report a no-show and give a clear reason promptly. The other party receives an inbox update, with browser push attempted where enabled. A push notification may be delayed or unavailable; check your workspace and use your established contact method for urgent changes. HSSD does not automatically impose a cancellation charge or deduct wages in this pilot. The employer remains responsible for work already performed and any other required pay.

Record actual hours

Professionals submit actual work start, finish, and unpaid break minutes. Include required paid work; do not deduct paid rest breaks. Offices review the submitted hours or request a correction. Approval records agreement on hours, not payment. Estimates shown here use the agreed hourly rate and recorded hours; the payroll provider must calculate actual wages, including applicable overtime, additional required pay, reimbursements, and deductions. Keep your payroll records separately.

Keep the workspace respectful and private

Use accurate information and only photos or documents you have permission to share. Do not enter patient names, charts, protected medical information, Social Security numbers, bank information, tax forms, or identity documents. Readiness evidence must be redacted. The owner can review pilot participation and pause access. Existing booking and payroll responsibilities continue if access is paused. For help or a correction, use the HSSD contact form.

Official employer resources: California workers’ compensation, overtime, and meal periods. Your employer or payroll provider determines the requirements that apply to the arrangement.
